The starting situation: Communication the long way round

Since the 1990s, DE Süd has been using SAP® ERP as the leading system via which all business processes are executed.
In today’s business world it is the norm to use email for communication with customers and partners as well as for sending documents. In SAP® ERP, sending business objects by email is only possible in a limited manner. It is not possible to send emails to several recipients at the same time. Nor can you send several documents as attachments to a single email.

In DE Süd’s Sales and Distribution department in particular, this situation had an impact on daily tasks. An increasing number of customers prefer to receive product information and quotes by email. Work processes were therefore developed which, although providing a workaround that reached the required goal, involved a lot of time and effort.

Given this situation, DE Süd was looking for a solution that would fill the functional gap in the email set-up in SAP® ERP, while optimizing existing processes.

With Send Business Objects (SBO), enycon was able to impress in the competitive comparison, as SBO presented itself as a flexible solution and also the most economic one.


Integration: Uncomplicated and flexible

Right from the first consultation, DE Süd was able to bring in its specific requirements and questions regarding the integration of SBO into the existing software and process landscape. The implementation was therefore transparent and comprehensible. Within one day both the installation and the in-house employee training were completed.

DE Süd employees have taken very well to SBO. The significant increase in email traffic is an indication of the positive effects of SBO.


The result: Lean processes and a noticeable improvement

In particular in the Sales and Distribution department, work processes became considerably more efficient. Individual covering letters, quotes, and product information could now be sent to the customer in one step. As an additional new feature, the sending of outgoing invoices by email has been integrated into the billing run.

With SBO, DE Süd can now send emails that match their own high quality standards, in other words with an individual message to the customer, proper signature and comprehensible documentation. Large customers in particular gave positive feedback regarding the change in communication using SBO, because for them, too, communication was able to become more transparent.


Service and maintenance: Competent and personal

At enycon, personal contacts are available to provide expert support with everything to do with SBO. The SBO basis version as well as regular releases are delivered in standardized transports as part of software maintenance, meaning that the software can easily be updated at any time. Using remote maintenance, webinars and online collaboration tools, enycon is also available to its customers at short notice should training or support be required.
